Hypnotherapy Pontefract

Unlike stage hypnosis for fun/entertainment, our advanced Clinical Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy helps you to change negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours and beliefs.  Since Clinical Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy was first endorsed in 1952 by the BMA (British Medical Association), it has dramatically increased its therapeutic impact and its clinical development and evidence base.  Many other Hypnotherapists only offer simple suggestions or generic script-based suggestions, in the hope of helping someone to change often stubborn negative thoughts feelings behaviours or beliefs.  Here at Barnsley Hypnosis and Counselling we use the very latest up to date, integration of the following advanced therapies: Clinical Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), plus Psychotherapy.  It has been well proven that Clinical Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy is totally safe, providing it is carefully delivered by fully trained, qualified and highly-experienced Therapists.  Here we are both fully trained and highly-accredited Psychotherapists, skilled at delivering and achieving the very highest client challenges, objectives, goals and personal needs.  As mentioned before there are many other therapists in Pontefract , who will try to tightly shoe-horn your unique, one-off challenges and needs, into simple, generic, pre-prepared hypnosis scripts.  Remember to spend your money wisely and you will also get what you pay for.  It’s your choice whether to accept an attempted generic simple solution, or demand a fully integrated, advanced and evidenced set of therapies, such as we promise to professionally deliver to you.  Many of our satisfied Hypnotherapy clients visit us from Pontefract and other areas of West Yorkshire.

Counselling Pontefract

Although we offer and deliver many other therapies, sometimes clients present a more straightforward challenge or problem, triggered by a recent, obvious event or situation.  These recent triggers may include one or more of the following: bereavement, accident, unemployment, relationships, separation, divorce, parental conflict, bullying, confidence, self-esteem, etc.  They may be more personal needs for visiting a highly skilled and accredited counsellor, for supportive and effective counselling in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.  Professional counselling offers a potential client a much needed confidential and non-judgemental listening approach.  This may be the first time that a client truly feels they are receiving one-to-one, independent, empathetic help and assistance.  We here at Barnsley Hypnosis and Counselling we truly empathise, our client personally thinks, feels and acts.  Many friends, colleagues, relatives or partners may try to help with their personal beliefs and thought processes.  However, here we are fully trained, qualified and accredited, to ‘walk side-by-side’, with the client to mutually identifying constructive steps and changes that the client themselves feels is best for them.  For example let’s take a case of relationship counselling with ‘Mary’ and ‘John’.  When they came together in session one, it was clear that at that point there appeared to be a problem in the communication of needs and feelings problem.  Further, it appeared that prior to the relationship both ‘Mary’ and ‘John’ had both experienced early traumas, one was abuse and the other was parent death.  We found that Relationship Counselling was the over-arching therapy model we used, with individual private, personalised Psychotherapy to address early root-causes of abuse and death, which were transferred into the current relationship. Many of our satisfied Counselling clients visit us from Pontefract and other areas of West Yorkshire.  If you are interested in a free hypnotherapy voice sample view this link.

CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) Pontefract

Here at Barnsley Hypnosis and Counselling, we uniquely integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy within our other advanced and affective therapy methods of: Clinical Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy, Psychotherapy and Counselling.  CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) was initially rooted in Cognitive Therapy by Carl Rogers in the mid 60’s in America.  His method was to concentrate on Cognition being how each unique client thinks feels and behaves, hence the term Cognitive Therapy.  An earlier Therapist had discovered Behavioural Therapy and how behaviour can be changed in steps.  CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) finally brings together the two well proven therapies into one effective and powerful integrated method.  It is true that CBT has proven to be the most researched and evidence-based approach in the modern day field of talking therapies.  CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) initially concentrates in identifying and changing a client’s thoughts, feelings and deeper beliefs.  Secondly, it then requires and supports the client in realistically and actively attempting to change their day-to-day and real-life behaviour.  The CBT therapist aims to create an early, effective, trustworthy and warm relationship with the client, in order to create powerful step-by-step new behaviours.  Luckily you as the client do not need to waste your money, in order to find out whether Cognitive Therapy (thinking, feeling and believing)  is best for you, or Behavioural Therapy (behaving) is best for you.  Further here we include CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) within our other integrative therapies. Many of our satisfied CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) clients visit us from Pontefract and other areas of West Yorkshire.  If you are interested in a free hypnotherapy voice sample view this link.

Psychotherapy Pontefract

The very first type of well-known therapy recorded was that by Sigmund Freud, over 100 years ago in Vienna.  He was able to practice and develop his therapy skills, whilst working as a Trainee Psychiatrist, following his initial Doctor training.  He had unlimited access to a wide variety of Psychiatric patients, residing within large, long-stay Asylums.  He did attempt to use and develop Hypnosis as a tool, but quickly rejected it as he was unable to develop or achieve effective depths of a hypnotic trance.  As there was only one type of therapy then, there was no need to label it as anything other than Therapy.  Later however, it was necessary to use the name Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy to separate it from the newer types of therapies: Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Therapy, Behavioural Therapy, plus most recent Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.  An advancement in Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy is that of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, the difference being a shorter duration, plus a less expensive form of modern-day Psychotherapy.  In simple terms, our latest Psychodynamic Psychotherapy seeks to identify how early childhood conflicts, trauma’s and un-met needs, transform and transfer into present day relationships, situations, thoughts, feelings, plus behaviours.  In addition to early childhood root-causes, we need to identify more recent (if any) other traumatic incidents.  This Psychotherapy can be easily and effectively integrated here within our other advanced methods of therapies Many of our satisfied Psychotherapy clients visit us from Pontefract and other areas of West Yorkshire.  If you are interested in a free hypnotherapy voice sample view this link.

Hypnosis for Weight loss

In recent years the most search for terms on the internet are:, weight reduction, weight management, losing weight, gastric-band, hypno-band, hypno-gastric-band, gastric-band surgery, gastric sleeve surgery, gastric by-pass surgery, etc.  Many years ago weight was not so much a problem, due to lower wages, higher activity levels, more exercise, food shortages, healthier cooking, more walking, etc.  When the writer was a child there was no money for a starter course or a dessert course on the family food tables.  Also the writer walked one mile to school and one mile back every day.  Exercise was abundant and natural years ago, creating a healthier body to weight ratio (now called BMI).  Over the last 20 years there has been a very unhealthy increase in the following: car trips to school, rather than walking, reduction in budgets and time for school and college physical exercising education (PE) or competitive exercise e.g. football, basketball, baseball, cricket, tennis, table tennis, netball, rounder’s etc.  When the writer was a child she only remembers approximately one to two persons in each class being overweight or obese in each class of 40.  Latest and current research informs us that overall, in 2017 there were 67% of men and 60% of women classed as overweight or obese (source at www.digital.nhs.uk).  Here at Barnsley Hypnosis and Counselling our continuous experience on success has proven the best approach here is to combine Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and Psychotherapy, to achieve and maintain the very best weight reduction/weight loss results.  We support you in a practical method to lose 1.5lb to 2lb per week, as recommended by Doctors, Dieticians and NHS (National Health Service).  Many clients wish to just lose one to three stone in weight, where as some wish to lose and maintain more weight loss such as four plus stones. Many of our satisfied Hypnosis for Weight Loss clients visit us from Pontefract and other areas of West Yorkshire.  If you are interested in Hyponosis for weight loss you can visit this page.

Gastric Band Hypnosis

Over the last few years there has been an increase in Hypnotherapists advertising and claiming that Gastric-Band-Hypnosis is best for weight loss and or weight management.  These methods of Gastric-Band-Hypnosis, Hypno-Band, plus Gastric-By-Pass-Hypnosis, claim to enable clients to lose weight and maintain the desired target weight.  Since these methods have become popular the writer has tried out her previous effective weight loss hypnotherapy and these new methods side-by-side.  Following this the writer discovered that within her busy practice it appeared and proved to be most effective to combine Gastric-Band-Hypnosis with well-proven weight loss hypnotherapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Life Coaching, plus Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (how the past influences and transfers into present thinking and behaviours).  Everything you will need to lose weight and maintain your healthy, target weight will be included in your comprehensive Weight Pack.  Further we will work together to create a practical, meaningful and workable Action Plan to empower your weight loss on a day-to-day basis.  For example ‘Mary’ wishes to lose 3 stone which she increased by 4 years ago.  She appears to be eating larger meal portions than healthy, plus bingeing on chocolate and crisps in the evening.  But when we examine the triggers we find the evening bingeing is only triggered by her husband arriving home late from work or working away.  We then use Psychodynamic Psychotherapy to identify process and treat any influences and root-causes from her childhood.  This included ‘Mary’ starting to remember how father would come in late from work, yet mother found out he was having an affair and soon to abandon and leave her mother and her.  Many of our satisfied Gastric Band Hypnosis clients visit us from Pontefract and other areas of West Yorkshire.

Stop Smoking Hypnosis

Smoking has been around for many 100’s of year since the first tobacco leaves were brought over on ships from the other side of the world, people were happy and excited to try out this tobacco which was only originally available either as tobacco rolled up inside an outer tobacco leaf or tobacco contained in a clay pipe.  At that point the main components of cigarettes were tobacco, nicotine (a stimulant), plus tar (now know to be very dangerous and unhealthy).  However, it’s interesting to know that over the last 30 years that smoking in the UK and other developed countries has gradually decreased.  To counter act this decrease the tobacco companies started to experiment and develop additional ingredients to include within the cigarette and or tobacco.  These extra ingredients have been well proven to be present by many independent leading research laboratories.  The four most famous sources of cigarette contents are now: Cancer Research UK (2019), Let’s Beat Cancer, JAMA internal medicine (June 2015), Irish Cancer Society (2018).  These latest scientific sources plus many more clearly prove there are approximately 7,000 chemicals now included within cigarettes and tobacco, in addition to the original basic ingredients of: nicotine, tobacco leaves, plus tar.  Most of these un-advertised and previously denied ingredients are now known to be highly poisonous, damaging and health threatening.  Some of the worst ones are Carbon Monoxide, Arsenic, Ammonia, Methane, Acetone, Nicotine (now a well-known pesticide), Polonium-210 (radioactive), Radon (radioactive gas), Methanol (Rocket Fuel), Hydrogen Cyanide (deathly gas poison), Butane (lighter fuel), Chromium (used in paints and dyes), Formaldehyde (mortuary body preservative), Cadmium (used in car and lorry batteries) and Benzene (industrial solvent made from crude oil).  We use many of our latest proven methods to both stop and maintain your new powerful non-smoking mind-set. Hypnosis for Anxiety

There are many reasons both direct and in-direct, as to why Anxiety has become one of the most common topics of conversation within a typical busy GP practice in the last few years.  Anxiety often known as excessive worrying can be just triggered by everyday or un-expected situations, pressures or events.  Also there is a highly recognised mental health disorder called GAD (General Anxiety Disorder) or Panic Disorder, which must fit within clear symptoms listed within the International Directory of Psychiatric Disorders (ICD-10 or DSM-5).  Broadly speaking Anxiety can be either one of acute anxiety where a client intensely worries about one particular situation or event,  alternatively GAD (General Anxiety Disorder) is where a client continuously and repeatedly worries about different and various present or future-imagined events or situations.  Often triggered by General Anxiety Disorder can be Depression (fed up of being anxious), Catastrophising, Negative Thoughts, work-related stress, home-related stress, relationship-related stress, performance-related stress, educational-related stress, etc.  Additionally Anxiety can be a surface symptom of a deeper trauma and root cause for e.g. Bullying, Abuse, PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder).  The latest guidance and best practice from the NHS UK and NHS NICE is that it is essential to include CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and or Psychotherapy within the talking therapy mix for General Anxiety Disorder or Panic Disorder.  Many of our satisfied Hypnosis for Anxiety clients visit us from Pontefract and other areas of West Yorkshire.

Hypnosis for Drinking

The writer remembers when she was a child, there were only two ways to get alcohol, one was within a pub or club the other was queueing at the side window of a pub or club.  Middle-class families e.g. Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers, Pharmacists, were also able to purchase alcohol via discrete ordering and deliveries.  This could be thought of as embarrassing or shameful if a person wanted to secretly satisfy an alcohol problem.  In the 1960’s Off-Licences emerged often within the base of a Convenience Late Night Shop.  These premises were originally made popular by immigrants to the UK, primarily from India, Pakistan and Africa etc.  Previous to this shops were not allowed to be open on Sundays but this facility proved popular in the 1960’s, not just for food, as intended, but unexpectedly it created an increase in the supply and demand of a more acceptable and discrete way of purchasing regular Alcohol (within a food shop and food carrier bag). In the 1960’s, women and men became more vocal and open with regard to alcohol consumption when out socially.  However following the emergence of Off-Licences men and women became more able to purchase and consume alcohol more easily, privately within the home.  Presently, there are three main types of Alcohol Abuse and these are: Sociable Weekend Binge-Drinking (socialising with people), Functioning Alcoholism (attending work but drinking at home evening and weekends), Non-Functioning Alcoholism (erratic or non-attendance at work but drinking at home daily most of the time). Here we combine Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy with CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and Psychotherapy, to help you to quickly and effectively stop drinking and quit drinking. Many of our satisfied Hypnosis for Drinking Alcohol clients visit us from Pontefract and other areas of West Yorkshire.  To view more info you can visit our addictions page.
